Ruth Player Ruth Player
Viola

Ruth studied in London with Mark Knight and John Crawford on "modern viola" and Richard Gwilt and Jan Schlapp on "period viola". Whilst a student, she was principal and co-principal violist of the Britten-Pears Orchestra and the Britten-Pears Baroque Orchestra. She was also awarded scholarships in 1994 and 1996 to attend masterclasses given by Jane Atkins and Peter Sulski at the Dartington International Summer School. Ruth plays frequently with the Corelli Orchestra, the Concert Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, the Musicall Compass and Viva Musica, performing at venues including the Wigmore Hall, St.John's Smith Square and the Royal Opera House. Ruth has recorded for film and television and has made several broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4. She has also appeared live on Canadian Television and played for Bill Clinton and Brian May.
